The Andy Warhol Museum's Sound Series features an evening of ambient electro-acoustic music with Icelandic composer and multi-instrumentalist Johann Johannsson, on tour promoting his new solo record, "Forlandia." Johannsson, a founding member of the Icelandic label and art collective, Kitchen Motors (which also includes members of Sigur Ros, Mum), also performs with Apparat Organ Quartet, who are, according to The New York Times, "as innovative and meticulous as Sigur Ros, but who sound nothing like it."

In 2001, Jeremy Beck impressed with a locally produced opera based on the Biddle Brothers saga. Today, the contemporary music group IonSound Project will play new works by Beck and other living composers in two venues: at 10:30 a.m. at Mellon Park, Shadyside, free, and at 7 p.m. at Your Inner Vagabond, Lawrenceville, $5-$10; 412-683-1623. Among the works will be the premiere of Beck's "In Flight Until Mysterious Night," written specifically for IonSound's make-up of flute, clarinet, marimba, violin, cello and piano.
Pittsburgh native and internationally known Seattle artist Sheila Klein returns this summer to create a permanent installation for the pedestrian bridge connecting Shadyside and East Liberty. At 7 p.m. Monday she'll talk about that project, part of which will be made at the Pittsburgh Glass Center, and about her other work, at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, 6300 Fifth Ave., Shadyside ($5). Patriotism, tradition and family come together for "A Family Fourth" at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. As a part of its year-long 50th anniversary celebration, the museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. From noon to 3 p.m. it will host a free old-fashioned ice cream social and family art activities, including a scavenger hunt involving a puzzle and important American artists (724-837-1500 or www.wmuseumaa.org).
