Old tires, appliances, computer equipment and other hard-to-recycle items will be collected from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Saturday in the lower-level parking lot of the Mall at Robinson in Robinson.
The Allegheny County Health Department and the Pennsylvania Resources Council are sponsoring the event. No fees are charged for cell phones, printer cartridges, compact fluorescent light bulbs, paper and cardboard. Some items have fees:
Tire without rim, $2; Freon and non-Freon appliances, $5; TV under 19-inch, $15; TV 20-29 inches, $25; TV 30-39 inches, $35; TV 40 inches or greater, $50; CPU or laptop computer, $5; monitor, $8; personal computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse combined, $12; mixed wire/cable/mouse/keyboard, $1; printer/scanner/fax/UPS, $5; and VHS/DVD/stereo/phone, $2.

Four playhouses in the third annual Village of Hope will go on display today at Pittsburgh Mills mall in Frazer.
Each year, the 8-by-6-foot wooden playhouses are raffled off to benefit home-building efforts by Habitat for Humanity Allegheny Valley. Tickets, $5 each or five for $20, will go on sale next week. The drawing will be Dec. 27.
